Descriptions:
Duties are as stated in the adopted building codes including building, fire, mechanical, and plumbing codes. The Board hears and decides appeals from the actions of administrative officials relating to building regulations under Kodiak City Code Title 14. Recommends amendments to KCC 14 as deemed necessary.
Studies issues and makes recommendations to the Council on matters relating to parks and recreation. Meets at least 4 times per year. City resident position.
Hears employee grievances and renders advisory opinions on its findings. City resident position.
Ports and Harbors Advisory Board - 3 Year Terms
Acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters related to operation of the City Port and Harbor facilities, including the boat harbors, cargo docks, ferry dock, and airplane floats. The Board considers any specific proposals, problems, or project as directed by the City Council. Meets not less than four times per year.
Serves as a City representative on the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission. This commission meets weekly on land use, planning, zoning, and platting issues. City seats on the Planning and Zoning Commission are appointed by the Borough Mayor from a list recommended by the City Council.
