Descriptions:

  • Building Code Board of Appeals - 3 Year Terms

Duties are as stated in the adopted building codes including building, fire, mechanical, and plumbing codes. The Board hears and decides appeals from the actions of administrative officials relating to building regulations under Kodiak City Code Title 14. Recommends amendments to KCC 14 as deemed necessary.

  • Parks and Recreation Advisory Board - 3 Year Terms

The Board studies issues and makes recommendations through the City Manager to the City Council on matters relating to parks and recreation. The Board is comprised of seven regular members, two alternate members, and two ex-officio members. At least four regular members must be City residents. This Board meets at least 4 times per year.

 

Personnel Board - 2 Year Terms

 

The Board hears employee grievances and renders advisory opinions on its findings. The Board is comprised of three regular members who are City residents.

  • Ports and Harbors Advisory Board - 3 Year Terms

The Board acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters related to operation of the City Port and Harbor facilities, including the boat harbors, cargo docks, ferry dock, and shipyard. The Board considers any specific proposals, problems, or project as directed by the City Council. The Board is comprised of seven regular members, two alternate members, and one ex-officio member. City residency is not required. The Board meets not less than four times per year.

  • Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission - 3 Year Terms

City appointees serve as City representatives on the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission. This commission typically meets twice monthly on land use, planning, zoning, and platting issues. The Commission is comprised of seven members, and three members must be City residents. Appointments are made by the Borough Mayor from a list of recommendation(s) from the City Council.
