Meetings
The City Council meets at least once a month on the second and/or fourth Thursday of each month, with a work session held the preceding Tuesday. Council meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers of the Borough Building at 710 Mill Bay Road.
Elections and Responsibilities
The Mayor, who is elected at large for a two-year term, presides at Council meetings and certifies passage of ordinances and resolutions passed by the Council.
Two of six Council members are elected at large annually for three-year terms. The Council appoints the City Manager and Clerk, and selects the City’s contracted attorney. The Council by ordinance enacts legislation, sets policy, adopts the budget, and regulates the fiscal affairs of the City.
Please note: These elected offices are not full-time jobs, and the Mayor and Councilmembers do not maintain office hours at City Hall.
