The Mayor is elected at large for a two-year term. She presides at meetings of the Council and certifies the passage of all ordinances and resolutions passed by it. The Mayor signs written obligations of the City as the Council may require. The Mayor votes in the case of a tie vote and has the power to veto ordinances and resolutions passed by the Council. |

Mayor Branson was elected by Kodiak voters to a two-year term in October 2011. Prior to being elected Mayor, she was previously elected to a one-year term on the City Council in October 2010 and served as a Councilmember through October 2011.

Kodiak City Council |

The City Council is comprised of six members who are elected at large for three-year terms. The Council, by ordinance, enacts legislation, sets policy, adopts the budget, and regulates the fiscal affairs of the City. The Council also has the authority to create, change, and abolish all offices, departments, and agencies of the City government that were not created by the Charter. The Council appoints the City Manager and City Clerk and selects the City’s contracted attorney. |

Councilmember Bishop was elected by Kodiak voters to a three-year term in October 2011.

Councilmember Charles Davidson was most recently elected to a three-year term by Kodiak voters in October 2010. Councilmember Davidson was previously elected to the Council in October 1993. He was re-elected in October 1996, 1999, 2002, and 2005 for a 15 year consecutive term. He was appointed to fill a vacant position in July 2009 through October 2009.

Meetings
The City Council meets at least once a month on the second and/or fourth Thursday of each month, with a work session held the preceding Tuesday. Council meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers of the Borough Building at 710 Mill Bay Road.
