Mission:
The Finance Department is responsible for all accounting, budgeting and financial services for the city. These services include accounts payable, payroll, human resources, collection of sales tax and hotel/motel tax, street assessments, accounts receivable for water/sewer billing, leases and other miscellaneous charges, grant administration, purchasing, fixed assets, and preparation of the budget and financial statements.

Tax Ordinances, Rates and Forms
The current sales tax rate is six percent on all sales, services and rentals. The maximum taxable amount is $750.00 per a single transaction; please refer to City Code sales tax Chapter 3.08. The hotel/motel tax rate is five percent in addition to the sales tax rate of six percent.
The real property taxes are collected by the Kodiak Island Borough on the city's behalf and then distributed to the city.
