MISSION STATEMENT: The Kodiak Fire Department is dedicated to protecting the lives, property, and environment of our city and community through exceptional services in education, preparedness, prevention, partnerships and response to emergency incidents.
The Kodiak Fire Department is responsible for fire protection, emergency medical services (on the Kodiak Road System), hazardous material response, and related emergencies within the Kodiak City Limits. We have established and exercised Mutual Aid Agreements with the two Kodiak Island Borough Volunteer fire departments and United States Coast Guard fire department.
Thirteen (13) uniformed personnel and one (1) administrative assistant staff the department. Members provide professional emergency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the citizens of Kodiak.
The Kodiak Fire Department's vehicle apparatus consists of two Class A structural fire engines, one 105' aerial ladder, one Heavy Rescue squad, three fully equipped ALS ambulances, two staff (Command) vehicles and one utility vehicle.
A three-year run comparison shows that the department averaged 200 fire related emergencies, and 600 emergency medical/rescue related incidents each year.
