Kodiak Police Department

The Kodiak Island Archipelago is located 252 air miles southwest of Anchorage. Kodiak’s diverse economy is based on commercial fishing and seafood processing, construction and development, international trade, timber and tourism. Kodiak’s ports are home to over 575 commercial fishing vessels, making it one of the largest commercial fishing ports in Alaska. 

The Kodiak Police Department (KPD) is the principal law enforcement agency operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Department is authorized 17 patrol officers to include specialty assignments and administration. The Kodiak Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) provides communication support and dispatch services to all police, fire and EMS agencies on Kodiak, and the Department operates the Kodiak Jail, one of the newest and busiest non-state jail in Alaska.

The Kodiak Police Department’s mission is to ensure the safety of our residents through leading and coordinating efforts within the community; and to be responsive to those in urgent situations, protect the rights of all persons, improve the quality of life, and prevent crime.
