Streets Division

The Public Works Streets Division is committed to maintaining and repairing the complex network of streets, sidewalks, traffic control devices, stairways, storm drainage facilities, and street appurtenances throughout the City.  We are committed to constantly training our personnel to ensure that these systems are maintained in the best condition possible.  The safety of the general public in the use of these systems is of paramount importance.

Resources

The City of Kodiak, Public Works Department maintains 25 miles of streets within the city limits.  To perform this function the Public Works Department has 5 operators, 6 maintenance workers and 3 mechanics to provide almost around the clock service in the winter.  Equipment available includes 4 graders, 1 sander, 2 salters, 4 dump trucks, 1 loader, and 1 snow blower.

The City’s Draft Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is available for public comment. The City will host a combination in-person / online meeting from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday March 9, 2022 to present the plan updates, collect comments from the community, and discuss the future of the City’s transportation program.
