Flash Floods and Other Flooding
Flash floods are fairly common in Kodiak. They are extremely dangerous, largely because they catch people unaware. They are the number one cause of weather-related deaths in the United States. Review important precautions that should be taken before, during and after a flood.
Most flash flooding deaths occur when people attempt to drive through floodwaters; a foot of moving water can carry away a vehicle. "Turn around, don't drown," and learn more about avoiding disaster during a flash flood.
