Department Overview
The Kodiak Fire Department provides fire and emergency medical services to the residents of the City, as well as medical services to Fire Protection District 1, U.S. Coast Guard Base Kodiak, Woman's Bay Fire Service Area, and non-covered road system areas. The department provides several other services, which include but are not limited to fire prevention, fire investigation, public education, specialized rescue that includes: confined space, trench, high angle, hazardous materials, water and ice, and building collapse. We have established and exercised Mutual Aid Agreements with Bayside, Woman's Bay and Coast Guard Fire Departments.
The department consists of Seventeen (17) uniformed personnel and one (1) administrative assistant. Members provide professional emergency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the citizens of Kodiak.
The Kodiak Fire Department's vehicle apparatus consists of two Class A structural fire engines, one 105' aerial ladder, one Light Rescue squad, three fully equipped ALS ambulances, three staff (Command) vehicles.
A three-year run comparison shows that the department averaged 250 fire related emergencies, and 950 emergency medical/rescue related incidents each year.
Mission Statement
The Kodiak Fire Departments mission is to PROTECT the citizens and guests of the City of Kodiak through fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials response, advance medical treatment and transport. PREVENT fire, fire loss, fire related injuries, and death through Fire Prevention and Public Education, planning, and code enforcement. SERVE the citizens through dedication, maintaining public trust, and timely incident responses.
