Winter Storm Preparedness
Winters in the Gulf of Alaska are notoriously unpredictable. It's not unusual for a blizzard or severe cold to follow on the heels of a warm spell. Emergency Management leaders stress that every household should prepare for severe winter weather, regardless of what the temperature is outside. The State of Alaska Division of Homeland Security& Emergency Management (DHSEM) as well as Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are good resources.
