Resources

In addition to over 65,000 books, the library checks out: AV Equipment such as projectors, DVD players, headphones, and laptops; music and books on compact disks; language learning materials; feature films and instructional DVDs; magazines and newspapers. Public-use computers and Wi-Fi are available to patrons in good standing with a resident library card, visitor library card, or complimentary guest pass (good for 60 minutes). Internet connectivity is funded through the federal e-rate program, the Alaska Library Network, and the City of Kodiak.

 

Library patrons have direct access to online databases, journal articles, and archives via the State Library Electronic Doorway (SLED) and the Alaska Digital Library of e-books and audio books provided with funding from the Alaska State Library and the City of Kodiak. Patrons who have Internet access at home can use these electronic materials from the Online Resources page.

LoanĀ Periods

  • DVDs and CDs check out for seven days;
  • Books check out for 21 days;
  • Other AV resources have varying check out periods. Reference your check out receipt. 

Renewing items is available through your online account, calling, or coming by the library.  Some items will not be able to be renewed if they are on hold for another patron.

Extended loan periods may be arranged at the time of check-out for persons who will be in remote locations. 

Study Rooms

Four study rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to people ages 14 and up for two hours. One study room may be reserved up to 1 week in advance. Please check at the circulation desk for study room availability. The rooms accommodate a maximum of four people.
